Women Wait Hours To Get ‘Nevertheless, She Persisted’ Tattoos

“Nevertheless, she persisted” became a rallying cry among liberals when Mitch McConnell used the words to silence Elizabeth Warren during Jeff Sessions’ confirmation hearing. And on Tuesday, more than 100 women, and a few men, packed a Minneapolis tattoo shop to get those words permanently inked on their bodies. Nora McInerny, a blogger and social media presence, came up with the idea to get a tattoo for herself, and created a Facebook event to invite friends to join her and raise money for a charitable cause. She accidentally made the event public, and word quickly spread. So many people showed up that some had to wait as long as six hours to take a turn in the chair. The tattoos cost $75 each, $55 of which is being donated to a local pro-choice nonprofit.
